It aims to be the modern Gurukul of India by building 500 low-cost schools. The organisation combines spiritual and scientific education, emphasizing the control of ego and vices. With a strong presence in North India, including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, it continues expanding to reach more people in need. Its work fights drug and alcohol abuse by establishing low-cost CBSE schools and universities. The Akal Academies programme provides modern, value-based education to approximately 70,000 students in rural areas. It has also established teacher training centres, a multi-speciality hospital, drug de-addiction centres, an orphanage, an old age home, and a Center for Distressed Women. Its global recognition has led to the adoption of its models in educational institutions worldwide.

Programs

  • Rural Education Programme

    With a focus on underprivileged rural communities in remote areas of North India, the programme aims to provide quality education grounded in values and spiritual growth. Thus far, it has successfully supported nearly 70,000 children hailing from rural backgrounds, extending opportunities for their upliftment.

  • Women Empowerment Programme

    The programme called AIRWE, introduced by The Kalgidhar Society, aims to provide education and employment opportunities to women, enabling them to lead independent and respected lives. It also focuses on rehabilitating women in vulnerable situations, allowing them to regain their dignity. Akal Institute of Rural Women Empowerment (AIRWE) is a residential programme catering to underprivileged young women from remote areas in North India. The programme combines modern scientific teaching with spiritual learning, empowering participants emotionally, morally, and intellectually. It nurtures virtues like selfless service, universal brotherhood, and strong character, shaping them into future agents of positive change in society. Additionally, the programme offers a Teacher Training Programme, enabling underprivileged girls to pursue their dreams of becoming educators.

  • Health Care Programmes

    Operating various programmes, the Society brings advanced healthcare services to rural communities lacking access to quality medical care. It runs three rehabilitation centres for individuals fighting drug and alcohol addiction, addressing societal issues at its core. Notably, the Akal Charitable Hospital in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh, provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to impoverished populations within a 100 km radius. The hospital offers diverse treatments, including cardiology, ophthalmology, gynaecology, ENT, dental, and alternative medicine, all free of charge. It also offers specialized services like snake bite antivenin. The Society's rural rehab centres employ a holistic approach combining medical, psychological, spiritual, and holistic care.

  • Environmental Programmes

    The Kalgidhar Society actively promotes environmental conservation through various initiatives, including the installation of large solar energy plants. Its commitment to the environment is evident through efforts in solar energy utilization, waste management, and tree plantation drives. The Society has adopted 1.7MWp of solar energy plants, significantly reducing carbon emissions in Akal Academies. Additionally, solar cooking plants have contributed to a cleaner and greener environment. Students of Akal Academies actively participate in tree plantation drives, planting fruit, flower-bearing, and shade-giving trees, demonstrating their responsibility towards nature.

  • Social Welfare Programme

    The Kalgidhar Society actively supports vulnerable individuals to ensure they lead lives of dignity and respect. It has established centres to provide shelter and safety for the elderly, abandoned children, women, and those affected by poverty or disasters. During times of calamity such as floods, earthquakes, or the Covid-19 pandemic, the Society promptly offers assistance, including cleanup and restoration efforts, emergency shelter, financial aid for essential supplies and housing, and food services for victims and emergency workers. Its aim is to provide long-term relief and support in times of crisis.
