Currently there are only about 1000 primary care units in West Bengal for its rural population of over 6.2 crore. Many of these centres offer unsatisfactory and sub-standard care. Most quality healthcare centres are expensive and in urban areas - making them unaffordable and inaccessible for the rural communities, thus making them severely vulnerable to various health issues.
We work towards countering this by setting up and running out-patient healthcare centres that provide high-quality and affordable care in densely populated areas which have high need of medical care.
We currently have 9 healthcare centres functioning across rural West Bengal With General Medicine, Optometry, Homeopathy departments (and a few with Dentistry departments) and a fully stocked pharmacy, our centres provide patients with affordable medical consultation and 1 week supply of medication for free. We also maintain the standard of care at our centres, each of which makes primary care accessible to over 40 villages. We also have 2 centres in Kolkata for the urban underprivileged.
Primary care is the cornerstone of healthcare system and crucial for the health of the poor communities who are often most affected by the paucity of in West Bengal.

To empower our communities further, we have also started a preventive care programme with door-to-door screenings for chronic lifestyle diseases, eye issues, dental issues and skin problems.

We believe such holistic efforts would strengthen the health of our communities and improve the lives of our rural poor

• A case study on Rural Health Care Foundation has been published by Harvard Business School in 2013
• Special Consultative status awarded by the United Nations ECOSOC in 2013
• Indian Embassy in Kabul and USAID /FAIDA invited RHCF to the Innovation Fair in Mazar-i-Sharif in March , 2013 where Rural Health Care Foundation from India along with other NGOs in India exhibited their excellence of work in the field of social welfare
• The United Nations published the success story of our founder Mr. Arun Nevatia in UN Volunteers Book on 7/12/2012
• Registered with NASSCOM which provides RHCF with software at 2% of its market price
