The IMA Blood Bank Complex and Research Center is a collaborative endeavour between the IMA, Thrissur, and the District Panchayat, Thrissur, initiated Read more under the People's Plan Programme. This initiative is overseen by a proficient team of accomplished physicians from Thrissur. A charitable society named Janakeeya Samithy (Arogyam), was established under the Charitable Societies Act to establish and manage this state-of-the-art blood bank facility. The complex boasts a range of amenities, including a 24-hour blood bank, a component separation unit, a central laboratory, a computerized library, and a training center. Its core mission is to promote blood donation within society, ultimately saving lives. The blood center is designed for modular expansion, with the capacity to handle up to 150,000 units of blood annually. The objective is to create a modern blood bank that rivals the efficiency and precision of those in developed countries, all while remaining economically viable within the context of a developing nation. This visionary project required an investment of Rs. 3 Crore, involving the indigenous development of technology and systems.

  • Kalalayathullikal Programme

    State

    Blood donation drives held in numerous colleges are referred to as "Kalalayathullikal." These events go beyond mere blood donation, as students actively engage in painting, slogan creation, quiz competitions, and informative sessions about blood donation. The occasion is transformed into a lively celebration with music and entertainment. Over the span of two years, more than 100 highly successful camps have been organised in various colleges as part of this initiative. It has now gained traction and is set to be implemented in colleges throughout Kerala.

  • Blood Supermarket Programme

    In a strategic partnership, IMA Blood Bank has collaborated with the prominent organisation, KVVES, and its Youth Wing to orchestrate blood donation events across the district, aptly termed as the "Blood Supermarket." Recognizing that a significant portion of healthy adults are employed in various commercial enterprises, this initiative has seen remarkable participation from both business owners and their staff, resulting in a substantial number of blood donations. At the conclusion of each year, accolades in the form of trophies are bestowed upon local KVVES branches that have contributed the highest quantity of blood units and exhibited excellence in event organisation and publicity efforts.

  • Techno Drops Programme

    Successful blood donation campaigns, operating under the banner of "Techno Drops," are carried out within various industrial units, regardless of their size. These initiatives have witnessed enthusiastic participation from both the managerial and workforce sectors. Recognizing excellence in event coordination and the highest volume of blood donations, trophies are awarded to the establishments that excel in these aspects.

  • Couple Blood Donation Programme

    Exclusive blood donation events tailored for couples were orchestrated by the IMA Blood Bank, introducing a novel concept that resonated with many. Couples were drawn to this opportunity to express their love through a meaningful act. At a wedding ceremony, Mr. Jerome, the secretary of the District Blood Donors Forum, and his bride Delcy, set a remarkable example by donating blood in their wedding attire, accompanied by priests. Their gesture inspired attending couples to also participate in the unique blood drive, which garnered significant media attention. Numerous VIPs graced the event, bestowing their blessings upon the newlyweds.

  • Vanitha Blood Donation Programme

    Specialized blood donation campaigns designed exclusively for women were launched with the aim of encouraging greater female participation in blood donation and enhancing awareness among them. The inaugural event, hosted by the Women's Wing of Cycco Club, Marathakkara, proved highly successful, with 87 women generously donating blood. This initiative has contributed to a rising percentage of female donors, a testament to the collaborative efforts of the IMA Blood Bank and various women's organisations across the district.

  • Snehathullikal Programme

    Blood donation campaigns operating under the banner of "Snehathullikal" were meticulously organised to propagate the message of love, compassion, and the imperative to assist fellow humans in dire need of life-saving blood. While motivating people for blood donation is a common theme, the distinct appeal of campaigns bearing this slogan drew a more extensive audience. To bolster awareness, the IMA Blood Bank produced a video titled "Snehathullikal" on blood donation, screened publicly at the campaign sites, further emphasizing the cause.
