It offers comprehensive curative and palliative care, particularly for cases where paternal support is limited, leaving mothers struggling to make ends meet. Solace provides essential medications and funds special treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Its mission revolves around supporting children with chronic illnesses and their families, empathetically standing by them through difficult times and extending assistance when needed. Originating as a Play Therapy Unit near the Leukemia ward of Govt. Medical College, Thrissur, in 2007, Solace has grown significantly. Initially catering to 15 children, it now aids over 3700 children facing various long-term illnesses, including Cancer, Thalassemia, Cerebral palsy, Nephrotic syndrome, Hemophilia, Heart diseases, Fits, Wilson disease, Mental retardation, Juvenile arthritis, Epilepsy, and Hearing loss. In many cases, families are deeply impacted, and mothers bear the brunt of caregiving responsibilities. Solace steps in to offer vital medical support, ensuring these children have the best chance at recovery and the opportunity for improved quality of life.

  • Medical Support Programmes

    State

    Solace primarily supports with vital medical aid, including financial assistance for medicines and surgeries when families face difficulties. It supplies rare medicines, like Entaliv and Desirox, for conditions such as Thalassemia and Hepatitis B, not available in Government hospitals, covering costs up to Rs 50,000 monthly.

    Solace ensures no patient is left unsupported after turning eighteen, helping them integrate into society. It collaborates with medical professionals to provide the best treatment, supported by donors. Solace also covers Ayurvedic and homoeopathic treatments for over 3500 children, with a monthly commitment exceeding 25 lakh Rupees.

  • Social Support Programme

    State

    Solace offers comprehensive social support to afflicted households. This includes assistance with house rent, supporting the education of siblings, maintaining homes, and providing essential survival food kits. Moreover, Solace empowers mothers, who often bear the brunt of responsibilities, by funding suitable livelihood opportunities and providing training and tools. To sustain important work, Solace relies on a continuous flow of contributions, whether in the form of cash, books, clothes, toys, or even innovative ideas to better achieve its mission. Its overarching goal, reflected in its name, 'Solace,' is to provide comfort and support to those in need.

  • Family Strengthening Programme

    Solace operates a comprehensive Family Strengthening Programme. Upon patient registration, it conducts thorough medical and social assessments of the ailing children and their families through home care visits by dedicated volunteers. This meticulous approach helps ensure that support is tailored to meet the specific needs of each family effectively. In addition to medical assistance, Solace provides social, financial, and psychological support to the ailing children, caregivers, and families. It conducts monthly family strengthening programmes aimed at empowering parents, particularly mothers, and facilitates parent get-together sessions to foster self-support groups. Solace's holistic approach focuses on enhancing the well-being of both the children and their families.
