Satya Saluja Literacy Foundation (SSLF) is a charitable trust working in partnership with Virohan and the National Skill Development Corporation of In Read moredia. There is a huge disconnect between the demand and supply of skills in the healthcare workforce of India, which is affecting both the youth and the healthcare industry adversely. While youth are forced to compromise on aspirations, income and location, the healthcare industry badly needs trained and certified allied healthcare professionals (AHPs). Trained AHPs, like medical lab technicians, operating theater technicians etc. don’t only improve quality of care, but build trust with patients and allow the doctors to attend to multiple more patients every hour. Post-Covid, the demand for such trained technicians is through the roof and we need millions of them urgently. At the same time, unemployment is gripping the country and we need to provide youth with sustainable careers urgently. This creates the perfect opportunity for us to use Virohan’s edtech solution that trains, assesses and certifies students with government accredited credentials in healthcare job roles to train youth across the country and get them jobs in this fast-growing industry that badly needs them.
