  • Since

    2011

Farm2Food Foundation focuses on empowering communities in the North East, India, harnessing their indigenous resources and skills. Despite the region' Read mores richness, it historically relied on other states for food. Farm2Food aims to change this by offering training and tools for local self-sufficiency and development. It's a non-profit that partners with communities, emphasizing sustainable farming for livelihoods. This approach not only makes households self-reliant but also enhances children's education and well-being by ensuring nutritious meals. Through selling products like vermi-compost, locals generate income, investing back into education and nutrition, creating a self-sustaining cycle. Additionally, the Foundation promotes organic farming for a healthier environment and prosperous future generations. Farm2Food sees local communities as partners, serving four key client groups to boost incomes and foster a self-reliant society, steering their own development.

Impact

Farm2Food Foundation has engaged 10,000 farmers, collaborated with 900 schools, involved 100 senior agripreneurs, benefiting 70,000 students through enhanced Midday Meal Programmes, and actively impacted 99,999 students through their various initiatives.

Programs

  • Farm Preneur Programme

    District
    State

The programme involves partnering with middle-school students to establish Nutrition Gardens, teaching them self-sustaining organic farming methods, scientific concepts, and entrepreneurial skills. These gardens double as scientific labs, allowing students to explore textbook theories practically, studying insects' roles in plant growth and applying geometry in bed creation. Harvested produce enriches the school meals, while students sell compost and bio-pesticides, earning profits and income. Collaborating with Ashoka and the SwissRe foundation, it conducts Health and Nutrition Surveys, aiming to measure and enhance the nutritional well-being of participating students, empirically assessing the programme's impact.

  • Mother's Group Project

    District
    State

The Foundation extends its Nutrition Garden initiative to boost children's nutrition, recognizing the need for household nutritional awareness. Through Mother's Group Projects, it facilitates Nutrition Gardens at homes, targeting improved nutrition for women and children. Offering training in vermi-compost preparation, initially for home gardens, the programme encourages women to later produce compost commercially, ensuring sustained nutritional benefits beyond the household level.

  • Solve Ninjas Programme

    District
    State

The Foundation partners with Reap Benefit to mentor middle-school students through the "Discover, Investigate, Solve and Share" process. This approach empowers them to identify civic issues, investigate solutions, and implement them with support. Termed as Solve Ninjas, these students learn to take charge of their environment, becoming catalysts for change in schools and communities, fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership.

  • Jagrik Programme

The Jagrik Programme by Farm2Food Foundation, in collaboration with ComMunity - the Youth Collective, introduces the Samvidhan LIVE - Jagrik Project in Assam's Jorhat and Golaghat districts. This initiative aims to cultivate social awareness and responsibility among the youth. The project functions as a real-life simulation, offering a platform for young individuals to engage with the Indian Constitution. It encourages understanding fundamental rights, duties, and values embedded in the Constitution. Through this experiential programme, participants observe the enactment of these rights and duties, providing a platform to share and report their experiences, and fostering a deeper connection to constitutional principles.

  • The India Project: Say No to Discrimination

    District
    State

Farm2Food Foundation teams up with Reachout Foundation for 'The India Project: Say No to Discrimination,' aiming to foster inclusive attitudes among children. Recognizing young minds as pivotal in combating discrimination, the project focuses on nurturing them to challenge stereotypes effectively. It serves as a pilot initiative addressing diversity and discrimination issues, seeking to raise awareness among educators, students, and parents. One notable effort involves a long-distance exchange program connecting children from Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Delhi through the traditional art of letter writing and card exchanges. This initiative not only links children across regions but also educates them about diverse cultures and urban-rural dynamics beyond the classroom. Farm2Food Foundation joins hands with Reachout Foundation in Assam, aiming to broaden children's perspectives and cultivate an appreciation for India's rich diversity, emphasizing its strength.
