MIND India is a registered society dedicated to promoting positive mental health and well-being. It recognizes the need to restructure belief systems Read moreand prioritize mental and emotional well-being alongside physical health. MIND India aims to instil the concept of positive mental health in the general population and enable individuals to choose change. It engages in evidence-based research, disseminates information, provides counselling and psychosocial interventions, and trains human resources. MIND India also works towards removing stigma, changing mindsets, and facilitating social change.   • Education Programme

    MIND India focuses on human resource development to improve the quality of human capital. It assesses needs at the ground level, deconstructs issues, and develops appropriate methodologies to address them. Its activities include data collection, information dissemination, training, intervention, and rehabilitation. One of its flagship programmes is a Three Months Certificate Course in Counselling Skills, recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and conducted in collaboration with K.K. Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Assam. This course enhances skills and knowledge in counselling to contribute to the field of mental health and wellbeing.

  • Career Counselling Programme

    Career counselling helps individuals discover their strengths and abilities and provides expert guidance on career options. It involves assessing interests, personality, values, and skills to explore suitable career paths. Psychometric assessments are used to provide a systematic and scientific approach to career counselling. The customized career planning process assists in setting career goals and creating a step-by-step plan for achieving them. The assessment includes personal profiling, personality assessment, career values assessment, career interest assessment, and evaluation of skills and abilities. This comprehensive approach helps individuals make informed decisions about their career paths and optimize their career planning.

  • Una Mindfulness Project

    This is a mindfulness-based community programme, conducted in affiliation with the University of Leeds. The study, in collaboration with MIND India as the knowledge partner, is scheduled to take place from June 1, 2021, to September 30, 2023. The project aims to explore the effectiveness and feasibility of a mindfulness-based community programme in enhancing the mental health of adolescents in Assam.

  • Samarthya Programme

    Samarthya, an initiative by MIND India, focuses on empowering and building capacity among young individuals to drive social change. The project entails developing toolkits and conducting capacity-building programs on Community-Based Mental Health and Psycho-Social support for 63 Tea Gardens under ABITA. This program aims to engage and train 300 Peer Leaders (boys & girls) from TE Collectives, as well as 123 personnel from Child Care Institutions in Assam. Through Samarthya, SELCO Foundation strives to equip these young minds with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in their communities.

  • The Big Picture Programme

    The Big Picture is a collaborative research project undertaken, in partnership with the School of Psychology at the University of Leeds, UK, and MIND India. Led by Prof Anna Madill, the project focuses on exploring the experiences of young individuals in Assam regarding substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health, specifically in relation to risk, recovery, and resilience. With Dr Sangeeta Goswami as the project coordinator in Assam, the aim is to expand knowledge, amplify the voices of young people, influence policies, and raise public awareness through research outcomes.
