About

NTPC Foundation is a CSR initiative by National Thermal Power Corporation Limited which aims to support physically challenged and economically weaker Read moresections of the society. The Foundation works in the areas of health, education, availability of technology and rehabilitation. The initiatives undertaken by the organisation include TB Control Program which provides Directly Observable Treatment (DOT) and has established Designated Microscopy Centres (DMC) in its hospitals at 11 NTPC Stations to take care of Tuberculosis patients in the vicinity of 25-35 km radius of the stations. Apart from this, NTPC has also given mobile vans and diagnostic equipment to these centers. The second initiative includes the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centres for the visually impaired students to gain hand on experience in computers with special special focus on hardware assimilation, software and coding languages. The third initiative includes the establishment of Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DRCs) at Tanda, Rihand, Korba, Dadri and Bongaigaon in collaboration with the National Institute for the Orthopedically Handicapped (NIOH) under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. These centres provide rehabilitation and restorative surgery services to physically challenged persons. The medical interventions include surgical corrections, fitting of artificial aids and therapeutic services. The fourth initiative includes the Distributed Generation of Electricity in remote villages. The Foundation has funded 15 distributed generation projects with total capacity of 300 KW and has provided support in preparation of feasibility reports, project insurance while bridging the funding gap. The fifth initiative is ‘NTPC Utkarsh' which is a Merit Scholarship Scheme with an aim to encourage children and youth from neighborhood villages of NTPC Projects / Stations for higher studies. The schemes benefits 7300 students every year from neighborhood communities pursuing X, XII, ITI, B.E,B.Tech and MBBS studies.
