Code to Enhance Learning is involved in imparting the knowledge of coding to primary school children to enable them to be equipped for the twenty firs Read moret century. It enables this through using Scratch, a simple coding platform developed by MIT Media Labs and is in use in over 130 countries. The children are trained to use Scratch to come up with innovative solutions to problems they observe around them through animation. It inspires the children early in life to be aware of issues around them and also guides them towards a computational mindset which will help them in future. It is partnering with schools and NGO’s working with children to include coding as part of the academic curriculum. Besides children It also has programmes for teachers wherein they are trained to teach coding to children using appropriate tools and methods. It conducts the CEL Students Hackathon each year where students from grade five to nine can participate and win cash prizes and certificates. The registered students are given a problem aligned to the United Nations sustainable development goals and are encouraged to develop solutions in Scratch or Pocket Code and submit their work to an expert panel. This activity prepares the children to face problems in an analytical way, be better citizens and promotes future changemakers.
