The Anushkaa Foundation for Eliminating Clubfoot is working to eliminate incidences of clubfoot in children. It is involved in ensuring that no child Read moregrows up disabled due to clubfoot. According to the organisation, clubfoot is one of the leading forms of disability where one or both feet are turned inwards which when left untreated leads to painful conditions besides contributing to the disruption of education, social stigma and fewer employment opportunities trapping the individual in poverty. The Foundation runs its programmes on tackling clubfoot partnering with Government agencies and other charitable organisations. It uses the Government healthcare system and network to carry forwards its treatment programmes.

Programs

  • Clubfoot Clinics

    The organisation establishes clubfoot clinics in Government-run and charitable hospitals that operate once every week with an aim to help with early detection, timely intervention and helping parents with children having clubfoot to have access to relevant medical facilities, diagnosis and treatment.

  • Medical Training

    It involves itself in the training of doctors in the special Ponseti method to treat clubfoot effectively. The training is held for basic, advanced and train the trainers levels which enables the trainers to further train more doctors who can take forward the noble work of the Foundation.

  • Medical Supplies

    The Foundation supplies medical needs like readymade plaster of Paris, soft rolls and braces for the full cycle of treatment.

  • Parent Counselling

    The Foundation mobilises volunteers in the form of programme executives and managers who assist with the implementation of its programmes. The volunteers are involved in extending the reach of its initiatives and providing relevant counselling to the parents of affected children through its clinics, by telephone and through home visits.
