The Sivakasi Facebook Friends Group initiated in 2014, has operated as a registered organization since the 5th of July 2015. For the past seven years, Read more from its inception to the present day, the group has maintained a high level of activity and momentum. Founded with the vision 'My Dreams, My Sivakasi, I'm Responsible', the group is dedicated to making positive contributions to the land and its people. Their primary focus areas include the management of water bodies, and education initiatives, as well as cleaning, and maintenance of roads, bridges, and bus stops. The group actively participates in assisting those in need during various crises, such as the Chennai Flood, Cuddalore Cyclones, and the coronavirus pandemic. At present, they are involved in the construction of a pond that was formerly a sewage paddle just two years ago. Additionally, plans are underway to construct a Low Height Subway to accommodate a railway track on the Sivakasi – Srivilliputtur Road. The welfare-oriented organization "Nammal" in Sivakasi operates without discrimination based on caste, religion, race, or language. The team, known as #SFF, collectively represents the efforts made by individuals who share a common goal. They engage in various initiatives, including water management, education, medicine, health, and awareness, with active collaboration from the public. The organization envisions ambitious dreams and goals, aspiring to make a significant impact. Their journey is characterized by a commitment to rise to the top despite the challenges and considerable distance to travel.

Programs

  • Repair and Renovation Program

    Motivated and inspired by this unwavering commitment, the group initiated the repair and construction of the Manikkatti Oorani Panneer ferry. Over the last three months, the group has actively undertaken traffic regulation duties every morning when the populace commutes to school. Despite criticisms, the group remains steadfast, operating solely with righteous intentions. With meticulous planning and execution, the journey perseveres unabated.

  • Disaster Management Program

    The collective evolved into a cohesive team and transformed into a closely-knit family. During challenging circumstances such as the Chennai flood, Gaja storm, and Thane storm, the group effectively coordinated and gathered relief materials. An inquiry into the feasibility of serialization arose. Amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, the group extended support by supplying food to those whose income was impacted, assisting the elderly, delivering groceries and vegetables to the less fortunate, and consistently practising social distancing in public spaces for a continuous period of 50 days.
