Acacia Eco Trust is actively involved in implementing greening solutions to enhance urban forests and mass plantations. It focuses on urban forestry, Read morewhich involves the art, science, and technology of managing trees and natural systems in and around cities for the well-being of people. Acacia Eco employs a scientific approach, particularly utilizing the Miyawaki Forestation method known for its effectiveness in challenging soil and climate conditions, ensuring faster and more sustainable growth compared to traditional plantation techniques. The journey of Acacia Eco began with a successful pilot forest using the Miyawaki method in March 2016. Encouraged by the positive results, the organisation has since been advocating and promoting Miyawaki forests. Acacia Eco collaborates with both private and public stakeholders, offering consulting or turnkey approaches for forestation projects. While Miyawaki technique plantations remain a key focus, the organisation undertakes comprehensive development for larger projects, including master planning, designing seating areas, creating walking/cycling trails, orchard plantations, and developing water bodies as per project requirements. Acacia Eco operates through two units, namely Acacia Eco Plantation Services LLP and Acacia Eco Trust, a registered Trust with 12A and 80G registration.

Programs

  • Oxygen Parks Programme

Acacia Eco Trust implements Oxygen Parks, integrating Miyawaki Tree Plantation in India to create lush green spaces. The design varies based on plot size, with dense plantations covering 80-90% of basic parks, featuring walkways and seating. Larger parks with amenities allocate 70-80% to dense plantations, incorporating individual tree planting areas, walkways, seating, lawns, and children's play areas. Notably, Science City Oxygen Park, developed in collaboration with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, spans 11,000 sq. m., planted with 25,000 trees. Similar collaborations yield Bopal, Thaltej, and Hebatpur Oxygen Parks, each uniquely designed and contributing to a greener urban environment.

  • Programmes for Factories

Acacia Eco Trust is actively engaging with various factories, such as Corrtech Energy, Riddhi Siddhi Magnesium Works, Arvind Limited, GIDC Naroda, Gujarat Flurochemicals Ltd., Sayaji Group, Godwitt Construction Pvt. Ltd., and Asahi Glass, to implement green initiatives within their campuses. The programme involves introducing small plantations, including boundary plantations and forest replacements for lawns, utilizing the Miyawaki method. This approach proves advantageous, as Miyawaki plantations are robust, require minimal maintenance, and achieve a higher tree density within a smaller area. Through collaborations with these factories in different locations across Gujarat, Acacia Eco aims to contribute to environmental sustainability and promote the benefits of dense, low-maintenance greenery.

  • Plantation Programmes for Residential & Commercial Spaces

Acacia Eco Trust envisions creating forests in various spaces, integrating Miyawaki plantations with landscaping in residential projects. The initiative includes boundary plantations along compound walls, backyard forests with walking trails, and mini forests clustered in lawn areas. Examples of successful transformations include 129 Retreat, 129 Weekend Villas, and private residences in Nasmed, Kolat, Koba, Rancharda, and others, where barren or unused land areas have been turned into vibrant spaces with dense cluster plantations or boundary plantations. These projects showcase Acacia Eco's commitment to sustainable development, with thousands of trees planted to enhance the natural greenery and promote eco-friendly practices in diverse locations across Gujarat and beyond.
