Adivasi Lives Matter (ALM) is a platform that emerged through the collaborative efforts of Ashish Birulee, Ankush Vengurlekar, and Isha Chitnis. I Read morets central objective is to intensify the often muted voices of Adivasi and Tribal communities in India. Its mission revolves around empowering Adivasi/Tribal youth and individuals, facilitating the creation and dissemination of digital narratives that highlight their rich culture, language, traditions, and social concerns. Serving as a dedicated resource centre for Adivasi storytellers, entrepreneurs, and professionals, it endeavours to ensure that the immense talent and potential within these communities find expression and recognition. As a pioneering platform, it plays a vital role in elevating the authentic voices of these communities from the grassroots level to the forefront of public discourse, harnessing the power of digital media as its driving force.

Impact

It has successfully trained over 180 Adivasi and Tribal individuals in the art of digital content creation, resulting in the contribution of more than 800 articles and videos that delve into the realms of Adivasi/Tribal culture and traditions.

Programs

  • Adivasi Awaaz Media Fellowship Programme

    The Adivasi Awaaz Media Fellowship is a collaborative effort between Adivasi Lives Matter and Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP). Launched in June 2022, the fellowship aims to document the issues and challenges faced by indigenous communities in India. Selected fellows receive financial support and mentorship to conduct ground reporting and research, allowing them to capture the current cultural and social experiences and challenges of these communities.
