Karunyavarsham Charitable Trust began its journey in 2011 with a simple yet impactful mission: to provide free meals to patients and their caregivers Read moreat the Government Medical College Hospital in Ernakulam. This initiative was born out of a realization that many individuals were going hungry due to the lack of nearby food facilities. By serving meals on Sundays, the Trust soon expanded its efforts and officially registered as a charitable organisation in 2013. Since its inception, the Trust has received support from numerous generous donors, enabling it to serve over 400 meals daily to patients and their families, year-round. With sufficient funding, the Trust aims to provide two meals daily, further extending its reach and impact within the community.

  • Free Food to Patients Programme

    The programme initiated in April 2011 with the provision of free meals to 20 individuals daily at the Government Hospital in Kalamassery has since expanded significantly, now serving 150,000 meals annually. With a kitchen established on hospital premises under District Administration approval, the initiative caters to patients and their companions without categorical restrictions, primarily assisting those from distant and disadvantaged backgrounds. The programme's longevity of eleven years, supported by the Government Medical College Hospital management, has proven invaluable to patients referred from distant locations, ensuring access to nutritious meals vital for recovery and sustenance.

  • Integrated Home Care Programme for Cancer Patients – CAN-SAHAI

    The CAN-SAHAI initiative, operating since 2018, offers Integrated Home Care services to Cancer Patients in Ernakulam, collaborating with Government Hospitals. Initially partnered with Cochin Cancer Research Centre until 2021, it now focuses on Palliative Home Care for Cancer Patients within Cochin Municipal Corporation Limits, alongside the Government General Hospital. Trained staff nurses, volunteers, and doctors conduct bi-monthly home visits to offer nursing care, medical assistance, counselling, and other support services at no charge. With over 100 patient visits monthly, including emergency responses and occasional distribution of dry ration kits, CAN-SAHAI strives to alleviate the burden of cancer care for those in need.
