Affiliated with TNP+ at the state level and supported by NACO and Alliance of India TANSACS, PDNP+ strives to enhance the quality of life for individuals with HIV in Perambalur district. Membership is open to all, without discrimination based on gender, caste, religion, or other factors. The organisation envisions a future where all individuals, both adults and children, living with HIV in Perambalur District experience a life of dignity, free from stigma and discrimination. It advocates for full human rights, regardless of cultural, age, religious, or socioeconomic factors. PDNP+ aims to ensure access to care, medication, treatment, and social and legal services. Guided by the principle of Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA), the organisation actively participates in shaping prevention, care, support policies, and programmes in Perambalur District. The mission of PDNP+ is to enhance the quality of life for People Living with HIV/AIDS in Perambalur District, fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness for individuals and their families.

Programs

  • Advocacy Programme

    Advocacy is a cornerstone of the Perambalur District Network for HIV Positive People (PDNP+). Targeting family members of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs), district administration officers, healthcare providers, and others, PDNP+ addresses PLHAs' needs, including property, family, education, stigma, discrimination, medical support, and Government schemes. Key initiatives involve advocating with healthcare professionals to enhance PLHA's care, combating stigma through engagement with Panchayat leaders, and working with Block Development Officers to secure pensions for widows of PLHAs. Collaborating with INDO Trust and Thai veedu NGO, PDNP+ advocates with the District Women Police Station and lawyers to address family problems faced by its members.

  • Network Strengthening Programme

    PDNP+ actively strengthens its network, collaborating with stakeholders and PLHAs' friends to expand services and promote GIPA activities. Representatives engage as positive speakers in district programmes, aiming to build PLHAs' capacity and reduce stigma. Initiatives include advocacy, positive speakers, and peer educators. With 2470 PLHAs as members, PDNP+ emphasizes the importance of MIS for organisational development. Governance members undergo training, enhancing growth. Thorough monitoring and evaluation systems are implemented, achieving a target of 221 peer treatment educators. CBO management trainings develop second-level leaders, and an advisory committee addresses PLHAs' needs. Board members and staff actively participate in HIV/AIDS awareness programs at the district and state levels.

  • Service Delivery Programme

    PDNP+ delivers comprehensive support and services to People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) and their families. The organisation offers a diverse range of services, including identifying new PLHAs, providing counselling, referral services, support group meetings, Peer Educator training, convention meetings, defaulter follow-up, home visits, peer counselling, educational and nutritional support, assistance with accessing Government schemes, employment advocacy, organising Get-together events, forming Advisory committees, Support net groups, promoting condom use, and various other supportive activities.
