Programs

  • FCN-INDIGO-ADATS

The FCN is a global network of 13 members who are subject matter experts, 16 support groups, and 28 grassroots NGOs. This network attempts to portray the local climate framework on climate change from the perspective of impoverished rural communities that are adversely impacted by irregular and unpredictable weather patterns.

In the Chittoor area, FCN provided building and commissioning support for 5,000 biogas units under the Clean Development Mechanism initiative from 2014 to 2017. Methane generated from cattle and kitchen waste can replace non-renewable biomass used for cooking and water heating through the use of biogas systems. Through the public distribution system, these projects eliminated the need for rural women to gather firewood and gave them access to a smoke-free cooking environment.
