Shri Gramy Seva Sangthan

Shri Gramya Seva Sangthan is working in the Rapar town of Rapar Taluka in the Gujarat state. This is a very backward area of the district, Kutch. The Read moreorganization works for the rehabilitation of physically and mentally handicapped young persons. Institute is working on well-established premises of a structure of 20,000 sq.ft. placed in 4-acres. Mentally challenged and severely physically challenged young people are admitted here. At the time of admission, most of the boys are not capable to perform the basic works like using toilet and bathing. Even they can not perform the activities like brushing teeth, wearing a dress, and having regular meals. They are not interested to participate in group activities. Most of these mentally challenged boys are suffering from psychological illnesses.  The mental treatment of such boys is started in the institute. Volunteers are working round the clock to take care of these boys. They train them in bathing, using the toilet, wearing a dress and having their meals. They are also trained to maintain personal hygiene. Mentally challenged people are encouraged to learn different skills like cleaning, tree plantation, farming and gardening. Within three to four years almost all the persons become experts in all the above mentioned activities. They become habituated to live a normal life. Then they go back to their families. More than 50 mentally challenged persons have been rehabilitated back to their families in the last 5 years.
