The Centre for Equity Studies (CES) was established in 2001 with a core mission to advocate for the rights of the most disadvantaged individuals. Driv Read moreen by the belief in the inherent worth of every human being, CES conducts research and advocacy projects aimed at addressing social injustice and inequity. Alongside operating homeless shelters and health clinics, CES actively engages in influencing public policy and law to foster sustainable solutions for the underprivileged segments of society. CES has played a pivotal role in shaping and monitoring key social legislations, such as the National Food Security Act and the Right to Information Act. The Centre of Equity Studies researched electoral exclusion in India, highlighting the challenges faced by vulnerable populations. Despite being eligible, up to 15% of adult citizens, particularly from marginalized groups, are missing from the electoral rolls. While some studies indicate a disproportionate exclusion of Muslims, the overall findings suggest potential exclusion of other disadvantaged groups. This underscores broader issues of social, economic, political, and cultural exclusion within the electoral process, despite India's status as the world's largest democracy.
