The Samaaveshi Pathshaala Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 2018 by two Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) graduates, is committed to promoting Read more inclusive education in Maharashtra's Karjat tribal block. Its goal is to bring about systemic change in schools, ensuring equal access and quality education for all children, irrespective of their social background or disabilities. With a vision for an inclusive future, the foundation aims to positively impact the learning outcomes of over 1 million children with diverse learning needs across India by 2030. It seeks to advance one grade level annually, aspiring to establish a prototype inclusive school where children with and without disabilities learn together harmoniously. Starting with an inclusive kindergarten in Kashele village on World Disability Day in 2018, the foundation now serves over 80 students, including six children with disabilities, across one kindergarten and three Anganwadis. The majority of beneficiaries come from Katkari settlements in Kashele and nearby tribal communities. By employing an 'inclusive curriculum' integrating constructivism, universal design for learning (UDL), and social-emotional learning (SEL), the organisation addresses the diverse learning needs of every child.

Zilla Parishad (ZP) School 'Inclusive-Ed Support’
In June 2022, Samaaveshi launched a pilot initiative with a ZP school in Kashele village, focusing on infrastructural improvements and implementing inclusive education for primary grades. By 2023, the project expanded to a second ZP school within Kashele gram panchayat. The approach includes enhancing school infrastructure, deploying full-time teachers, and supporting the education of over 70 primary students, including six children with disabilities. Plans involve extending the programme to all five ZP schools in Kashele and showcasing it as a model village for inclusive education.

Inclusive Anganwadi Training Programme
In August 2019, the 'Inclusive Anganwadi Training' initiative was launched to convert rural Anganwadis into inclusive early education centres. The goal was to enhance the skills of local Anganwadi teachers in early disability identification and inclusive education. This involved conducting workshops on disability awareness, foundational learning, digital literacy, and inclusive education skills. Additionally, each Anganwadi received a 'mini-library' of multi-sensory play and learning materials. Currently, the programme operates in 100 Anganwadis, with plans to extend to all 300 in the Karjat block by 2030, fostering an ecosystem of inclusive education.
