The Society for Social Transformation and Environment Protection (sSTEP) is a humanitarian group committed to improving the lives of underprivileged c Read moreommunities in urban and rural areas of Assam and North East India. Its focus is on empowering women through various means such as education, vocational training, self-employment support, legal assistance, protection, and awareness programs. Furthermore, it organises health check-up camps for the economically disadvantaged and actively participates in relief efforts during events like the Assam Floods. Since 2003, sSTEP has concentrated on creating safe educational environments for the urban poor. It conducted a thorough study, titled "Poverty Profiling of Guwahati City," in the same year to guide its work with urban residents. sSTEP's vision is to establish a society where even the most impoverished individuals have access to social and economic stability, safeguarding their fundamental rights and ensuring dignified living standards. Its mission revolves around empowering marginalized communities, standing in solidarity with civil society movements, advocating for transparent governance that safeguards the rights of the poor, and instilling moral values to diminish the vulnerability of marginalized groups and improve their living conditions.
