Foundation For Universal Responsibility Of His Holiness The Dalai Lama

The Gurukul Programme aims to revive a centuries-old tradition of cultural exchange between Indians and Tibetans. It provides a unique opportunity for university students from across India to spend three weeks in Dharamsala, the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration's headquarters. This immersive programme introduces participants to Tibet's rich cultural heritage, the teachings of His Holiness, Tibetan Buddhism, and the history of the Tibetan exile community. It serves as a gateway for students to explore their inner selves in the serene environment of Dharamsala.

These dialogues incorporated a range of spiritual viewpoints and unconventional therapeutic approaches to address the escalating mental health crisis. Simultaneously, it played a part in the ongoing extensive discussion on mental health from various faith perspectives, fostering a broader public discourse.

Teaming up with the India International Center, the Foundation collaborates on a monthly cinema event featuring a wide array of films exploring themes of compassion, interfaith unity, and spirituality from a global perspective. Under the curation of Rajiv Mehrotra, this film series has enjoyed continuous success since its inception in 2018.

The Foundation directed and conducted more than ten Interschool Programmes in diverse educational institutions, including Tibetan Children Village School in Gopalpur, Bylakuppe, and Tibetan Homes Foundation in Mussoorie. These initiatives were designed to actively involve young students, fostering respect for diversity and raising their awareness of various religious practices. The primary goal was to stimulate constructive dialogues among these students, cultivating a profound understanding of the unique requirements and perspectives of both individuals and communities.

Established in 1999, WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) has been a pioneer in advancing the discourse on women, peace, and security in South Asia. It has cultivated a strong network of women dedicated to gender equality and peace, aligning with His Holiness The Dalai Lama's vision for women's empowerment. WISCOMP focuses on promoting women's engagement in peacebuilding and forging cross-border partnerships, employing innovative teaching methods and conducting research across various disciplines. Additionally, it has produced over 200 scholarly publications that delve into contemporary concepts across international relations, feminist ethnography, educational philosophy, and peace studies. Operating locally, regionally, and globally, WISCOMP translates UN global agreements like the SDGs and CEDAW into actions that enhance women's contributions to peace, justice, and human rights.

The fellowship programmes encompass various dimensions. The first, dedicated to the XIV Dalai Lama, encourages innovative, multidisciplinary research into his life, teachings, philosophy, and agendas. The second, the Dalai Lama Fellowship for Nalanda Studies, delves into the rich Nalanda traditions, providing profound insights into their contemporary relevance. Lastly, in collaboration with The Red Door, the Compassion & Resilience Fellowship, initiated in March 2022, targets participants aged 21-30 nationwide. This programme employs a dynamic, experiential curriculum to enhance participants' psycho-social skills and resilience.
