Regular health check-ups are conducted in SBT’s shelters and contact points. Individual medical records are maintained for each child. A full-time doctor is employed at the centres to facilitate any treatment and in case of complications, specialists are also invited to attend to the children. In clean and hygienic kitchens, food is prepared and served to the children which includes the provision of providing special supplements to children who are recovering from diseases.

The organisation maintains contact points at various places in the city of Delhi, where volunteers engage with street children encouraging them to attend programmes leading to their access to education, healthcare, healthy meals and learning life skills. It also maintains child helplines which respond to calls and rescue children in distress. Partnering with Children’s Hope It also runs a mobile school to impart non-formal education to children in urban slums.

SBT strives to take care of the mental health of the street children who are regularly exposed to street violence and suddenly find themselves in a new environment of the shelters, surrounded by new people and a different lifestyle. To help the children, SBT introduced the mental health programme, wherein counsellors hand-hold children through stories, plays, jokes and talking to them. Special education also forms part of the efforts.

SBT ensures access to education for street children at the same time also equipping them with life skills. It caters to formal school, non-formal school and open school systems of teaching. Partnering with reputed local schools the organisation goes about providing quality education to street children. Vocational training is arranged for children who pass their matriculation with reputed institutes enabling them to learn the latest skills and crafts.

Its Full Care Residential Programme aims to provide safe child-friendly shelter for children rescued from street situations and any other suffering. The centres are compliant with the guidelines as laid down by the Integrated Child Protection Scheme and Juvenile Justice Act 2015. It operates two Children's Homes for Girls, two homes for Boys and three open shelters for boys, all providing complete care and protection services.

Thus, we started residential programmes to provide a safe and child-friendly shelter for children rescued from the streets and any other distress situations. Community Contact Points A segment of Delhi's population lives on the streets or in slum areas spread across Delhi. These are vulnerable children open to trafficking and abuse. Our social and outreach workers strive hard to build bonds of trust and friendship with them, their peers and families. We motivate them to attend our programmes at our many Contact Points where they have access to education, medical assistance, a healthy meal, life skills, and the opportunity of realising their full potential.
