With over a decade of experience, the organisation has focused on providing primary healthcare to marginalized communities in remote areas and urban slums, gaining valuable insights into the challenges of low infrastructure, high-poverty, and low-literacy environments. Despite successes in establishing service networks and deploying digital solutions, primary healthcare remains financially challenging due to community reliance on local informal providers. In response, World Health Partners is pursuing a strategic approach, including monetizing existing solutions, collaborating with the Government for funding, and expanding programmes to encompass education and income generation. It has already begun implementing these strategies and is committed to long-term sustainability in its mission to improve healthcare and well-being for underserved communities.

Impact

World Health Partners has facilitated 323,893 teleconsultations with urban doctors, successfully treated 363,699 TB patients, and engaged a total of 15,500 service providers, making a significant impact on healthcare access in underserved communities.

Programs

  • TB Care Programme

The organisation is actively addressing gaps in TB care through a comprehensive project. This initiative involves monitoring patient progress across various TB care stages, partnering with USAID and a consortium of collaborators. Key elements include innovative technologies for treatment adherence, mental health intervention, substance abuse support, post-treatment follow-up, and AI-assisted X-rays. It also implements a differentiated care approach for personalized diagnostics and referrals, with a focus on patient-centric care and assessing care value. This effort aims to improve TB care, enhance outcomes, and strengthen healthcare systems, contributing to better TB management.

  • Rural Education Programme

World Health Partners (WHP), renowned for its healthcare contributions in underserved areas, is extending its impact on education. It aims to provide high-quality teaching in remote schools by connecting experienced urban teachers with students through live, interactive sessions, using modern teaching tools. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Beaconpath Foundation, aims to equip students with essential skills for the job market while keeping costs low by partnering with existing interior schools. WHP's long-term goal is to guide students to complete their education through Government programmes, enabling higher studies or competitive exams.

  • Technology Intervention in Health

World Health Partners (WHP) addresses healthcare disparities in rural areas and urban slums by tailoring technology solutions. It uses low-resource tech in rural regions and leverages modern facilities in cities. Its holistic approach prioritizes ecosystem considerations over interoperability. WHP adopts commonly available devices, reducing costs and ensuring updates. It has moved technology development in-house to enhance usability and gather feedback. Browser-based systems and open-source solutions keep operational costs low, while volunteers aid in problem-solving, reflecting WHP's commitment to accessible healthcare.

  • Entrepreneur Models Programme

World Health Partners (WHP) introduced an entrepreneurs' network to provide healthcare using technology in rural India and Kenya, initially funded by grants. It established 'Sky Centres' run by local entrepreneurs for remote consultations with city doctors. However, when donor support ended, WHP faced challenges due to increased fees and reduced service volumes. To reinvigorate the network, it is retraining entrepreneurs, leveraging improved internet connectivity, and partnering with governments. WHP aims to expand the network, lower service costs, and offer critical care services. This experience emphasizes the need for accessible and cost-effective primary healthcare for rural communities.

  • Telemedicine Programme

World Health Partners (WHP) operates a telemedicine program with a focus on simplicity and accessibility. It uses numeric input for rural communities and employs internet-based applications for doctor consultations. The Althea system integrates diagnostic devices and offers live video and audio transmission. WHP's tools assist medical personnel in delivering efficient care. It generates lists of investigations and medicines for diagnoses, streamlining the process. This approach addresses the challenges of limited resources and connectivity in underserved communities, ensuring high-quality care.
