Programs

  • Programme for Vulnerable Children

The organisation empowers vulnerable children through Bal Sabhas, fostering civic consciousness and active citizenship. English Literacy Classes enhance language skills for economically disadvantaged children. Supplementary classes prevent school dropouts among the Kathkari tribe. Collaborating with UNICEF, the organisation facilitates a network of Bal Sabhas in Maharashtra, promoting child participation in local governance and advocating for Child Rights at various levels.

  • Women Empowerment Programme

The organisation's mission is to empower women economically and ensure their rights. It runs programmes like Domestic Workers Skill Enhancement, where domestic workers are trained in various skills and educated about their rights, boosting their self-esteem. The Financial Empowerment Programme helps women form saving habits and provides financial literacy. Self Help Groups target poverty in rural areas by creating community-based groups that enable access to micro-credit, promote discussions on issues, and connect with Government welfare schemes. These activities foster holistic development and protect individuals from exploitative financial practices.

  • Livelihoods & Vocational Skills Programme

    District

Centre for Social Action (CSA) empowers vulnerable individuals, primarily the marginalized Kathkari tribals in Raigad district, fostering community building, education, and livelihood support. Through Self Help Groups (SHGs), it trains locals to produce food products from locally sourced materials, reducing migration and improving socio-economic conditions. CSA also collaborates with the Retail Association of India (RAI) and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) to offer vocational training to economically disadvantaged youth, including domain-specific training, exposure visits, and soft skill development, enhancing employability and career prospects.

  • Capacity Building Programme

    District

Centre for Social Action (CSA) actively runs community animation and capacity-building programmes for Community Centres and Community-Based Organisations. These programmes offer training on fundamental social work, good governance, and para-legal literacy to a diverse audience, including youth, grassroots workers, domestic workers, and women from Mahila Mandal, Self-Help Groups (SHGs). These sessions raise awareness among participants about crucial issues and help them recognize their potential for comprehensive development. CSA conducts a year-round capacity-building certificate course, comprising 10 monthly full-day training sessions held in Hindi or Marathi at Salvation Seva Kendra Hall, Dadar (West). Upon successful completion, participants are awarded certificates in recognition of their active engagement in CSA's capacity-building initiatives.

  • Kishori Group Programme

During the COVID-19 pandemic, CSA identified the impact on both finances and mental health, particularly affecting young individuals. Women, especially adolescent girls aged 15-24, faced increased domestic responsibilities and limited mobility due to school closures. CSA responded by forming Kishori groups in Raigad, Dharavi Island, and Mumbai. These groups received training in mental health awareness, menstrual hygiene, financial literacy, and encouragement to pursue higher education, aiming to boost confidence and communication skills and provide a safe space for sharing concerns, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being.
