  • Since

    1987

CSED was established in 1987 by a group of socially concerned persons with varying skills, knowledge and experience. It has been involved in promoting Read more change and development for the communities to become socially aware and self-reliant. It started its work with the motive of empowerment of Dalit Youths and moved on to the issues of child labour, child rights, child participation and children-led organizations. It is also interested in child protection issues and is working towards promoting the concept of child-friendly families, schools, and Panchayats. Right now, our children/youth have become part of the ‘Global Change Makers Movement’ which is based in The Netherlands. CSED has also been involved in organising women as well as promoting leadership among them. It has gained the expertise of working in disaster situations too by providing necessary psycho-social care and support. The environment is another area of concern and interest. Another important point of focus has been on promoting and protecting young workers' rights in the textile industry with a special focus on women. A multi-pronged strategy has been adopted in all our programmes and actions. Gender is a cross-cutting issue for CSED. Another unique feature of CSED is its micro and macro level linkages and involvement.
