Mutual Education for Empowerment and Rural Action (MEERA) functions as a women's organization, centring its efforts on women and gender-related matter Read mores. Its primary focuses encompass Women Empowerment, Water and Environmental concerns, Natural Resource Management, Education, Community Health, HIV/AIDS Prevention, TB Control and Care, Child Survival, Maternal and Infant Health, Diminishing Abortion Stigma, Ceasing Child Marriage, and Eradicating Child Labor. The group engages in collaborative ventures with entities such as the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), the Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria (GFATM), the Ministry of Women and Child Development (Childline India Foundation), and Nourish International – USA. Since 2005, the foundation has allocated its resources to Mother to Child HIV/AIDS Transmission outreach. Its expanded strategy entails TB education and outreach in the district, aiming to mitigate mother-to-child TB transmission with partner organisations. Under Project Axshya, supported by GFATM, The Union, and REACH, Chennai, TB control will operate for 2 years. It seeks growth in water-based enterprises, child protection, social enterprises, nature conservation, and environmental safeguarding. Its intent includes aiding HIV-affected children in Dindigul District through nutrition, medicine, education, and family empowerment. Additionally, MEERA envisions launching a comparable network to address maternal and childhood TB concerns.

  • TB Control Project

    In a bid to enhance TB control and care, a project initiated on June 5, 2016, by the organisation focuses on bolstering community participation and ownership in Dindigul District, India. This endeavour entails raising awareness, peer education, capacity building among affected communities, sensitizing various groups such as youth, women, and local administrations, and fostering collaboration with district-level Government programmes, media outlets, educational institutions, industries, and clubs. The project's core objective is to augment the workforce dedicated to quality TB treatment by actively engaging affected communities. Notable outcomes include increased motivation for treatment within industries, media coverage of TB-related news, referrals from local administrative groups, students monitoring family members' symptoms, political parties offering local support for events, peer educators encouraging treatment completion, and women's groups tackling childhood TB.
