Native Medicare Charitable Trust(NMCT) works to bring development in the lives of underprivileged communities by implementing programmes on education, Read more health, livelihood and environment. It provides education to children affected by HIV/AIDS and those living in remote tribal areas, encourages self-employment through skill development in tribal and slum areas, provides medicines and nutrition to people affected by AIDS and also helped the needy during the pandemic by supplying grocery and hygiene kits.

Programs

  • Livelihood Programmes

    The Trust works to generate livelihoods and guide tribal populations and villages in better agricultural practices to increase self-sufficiency and income. It promotes ‘WADI’ methods that conserve water and undertake activities to protect this scarce resource. It also encourages the tribal communities to take up animal husbandry as a profession and supports them in rearing sheep, cows and poultry.

  • Anti Sexual Harassment Programme

    The Trust actively engages with corporates and industries to educate their employees about sexual harassment and its consequences. It trains the employees for effective implementation of anti-harassment policies at workplaces and helps in developing modules to tackle sexual harassment.

  • Promote Community Based Organisations

    It promotes and encourages the formation of community-based organisations(CBO) that work at the grassroots levels of society. It has helped form three CBOs namely Santhippom Positive Welfare Society, Tirupur Santhippom Welfare Society, ADI Federation and Vimuktha Federation providing sustainable support to people in education, financial aid, access to Government schemes and agricultural support.

  • Education Programmes

    It works to spread education amongst underprivileged children under the right to education provision. The effort had started with the rescue of children working in brick kilns and admitted to mainstream schools also at the same time carrying out WASH projects to aid in sanitation efforts and promote well-being among children.

  • Targeted Intervention(Migrants)

    NMCT implements Targeted Intervention Project in partnership with Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society , Chennai in Tirupur and Coimbatore Districts from 2011 and 2014 respectively. The project aims at Prevention of HIV transmission , Reduction of STD Transmission, Reduced Stigma attached with diseases. This project reaches the door steps of hundreds of Industries, to create awareness on prevention of STI/AIDA among the Migrant Workers. The major activities include one to one interaction, and one to one group education on Sexually Transmitted Infections. These workers are vulnerable to unsafe sex and HIV infection. The project also organizes STI and HIV/AIDS camps at migrant workplaces to i9dentify High Risk Groups . The project promotes Peer Leaders to support the service activities and Condom distribution.

  • Integrated Tribal Development Program

    Establishment of Horticulture plants in 250 acres in Tribal Area for 250 Tribal Families and provision of Livestock facilities to 50 Tribal Families those who do not have land to cultivate to develop the livelihood opportunity.

  • Healthcare Programme

    With a focus on tackling HIV, the Trust with encouragement from the National AIDS Control Programme works to address high-risk groups like migrant workers by going to their doorstep and conducting awareness sessions. To bring healthcare to remote locations and tribes. The Trust has provided an ambulance that covers more than 20 tribal locations in the Coimbatore district.

  • “Life-Promotion Of Stigma And Discrimination-Free Life With Sustainable Access To Antiretroviral Therapy For Plhiv / Clhiv”

    Native Medicare Charitable Trust has been a leader in fostering and supporting the development of community-driven approaches to HIV prevention, care and support, and impact mitigation. The LIFE Project from June 2019 as an ongoing project in Tirupur District with the objective of providing increased access and health services for 1000 PLHIV 750 Children infected / affected by HIV / AIDS, 750 families affected by HIV / AIDS and around 2,99,500 key population including Female Sex Workers, Male Sex Workers, Transgender and Migrant Workers.

  • Higher Education Support To The Children affected / infected with HIV/AIDS

    NMCT has been working in Coimbatore and Tirupur Districts to provide awareness on STI, HIV/AIDS Prevention among Migrants and Care & Support for HIV/AIDS infected / affected people and their family members & Children since 2002. They are not afford to spend for their higher education including College education and Polytechnics. NMCT was given responsibility to establish Home Schooling centers in 20 tribal hamlets as a Covid-19 intervention to eradicate drop out after covid impact with the funding support of Karl Kuebel Stifftung in the year of 2020-21. KKS has evaluated the activity in 20 tribal hamlets and ensured around 400 tribal students from classes 1 to 8 in Karamadai and Periyanaickenpalayam received uninterrupted education amidst the Covid-19 pandemic even with the provision of nutritious snacks and food to provide healthy environment to attend classes regularly. NMCT is appreciated for using the Tabs to attract and update the students on contemporary news and education materials. We could get good comment from the District Educational Officer N.Pandiyarajan, who visited 11 Home Schooling centers appreciated the NGO and the volunteers and said “In the assessment during my inspection, I found students’ education had improved.”
