Community Aid and Sponsorship Programme(CASP) works for the development of the community. It implements programmes which can be sustained for a long p Read moreeriod and helps uplift children, their families and communities toward equitable development, dignified life and justice.

Impact

Its healthcare programmes impacted 29,000 people, 150 HIV-infected women supported through SHG, 5% increase in institutional delivery in Badarpur, 35,000 women screened for HIV during pregnancy and more than 5000 people screened for eye problems. Livelihoods: 51% trainees employed out of 1250 students, 44% self-employed benefitted, 6,300 Rs average salary earned per month and established 4 vocational training centres in Mumbai. Education: 8842 children are sponsored, 268 students have cleared 10th examinations, 124 students have cleared 12th grade and 730 children who have dropped out have been re-inducted.

Programs

  • Early Childhood Care and Development

    This programme aims toward the complete development of children by training and upgrading the skills of caregivers, organising ‘healthy baby’ shows, operating creches for children of construction workers, operating balwadis aimed at helping children interact with each other and pre-preparation to attend school and supporting Anganwadis to improve the quality of supplementary nutrition to children.

  • Education

    CASP tries to connect individuals who want to help by connecting them to children from underprivileged backgrounds. These children are sponsored by the individual to achieve education, the children are also encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities to develop them into well-rounded personalities. Some of the efforts of CASP in the education space are the Nanhi Kali project, the meritorious project for higher education, education sponsorship assistance and ensuring the continuity of education.

  • Senior Citizens

    CASP maintains senior citizens centres catering to the maintenance of the health of elderly people, providing psychological support, engaging the elderly with current developments and daycare centres for elderly people.

  • Healthcare

    CASP follows the life cycle approach to deliver healthcare to children and also senior citizens, Its services include creating awareness of health issues, increasing the acceptance of services either from the public or the private sector, organising health camps, supporting people diagnosed with HIV, treating eye problems in children, addressing issues of adolescent boys and girls and maternal health.

  • Adolescents

    To channel adolescents' energy into the right path CASP tries to increase women’s safety and access to public spaces, increase the active and meaningful participation of girls in urban development and governance, address issues related to physical and psychological changes during adolescence, sexuality, childbirth and contraception and conducts workshops on issues such as life skills, peer pressure and how to withstand it, growing up, sexual abuse, substance abuse, sex and gender and HIV/AIDS.
