Since 1968, The Samithi, which has its headquarters in Mumbai, has been involved in a range of social, educational, cultural, and charitable endeavours, paying particular attention to the underprivileged segments of the community. The primary project undertaken by Samithi is the Karthika Nair Memorial Rehabilitation Centre. The proportion of people with impairments in the general population is 7-8%. In actuality, they represent the most disadvantaged and underserved group in society. The ultimate goal of all disability services is the integration of people with impairments into the general population. To accomplish disability integration, social and economic rehabilitation is a prerequisite. In this case, vocational training and rehabilitation play a critical role.
