ABOUT ASHA SCHOOLS IN INDIA ASHA Schools were introduced across India in 1991 under the Army Wives Welfare Association. The school provides a learn Read moreing and development platform to the specially-abled children. It provides a curriculum that takes into account the development delays or challenges. The causes for their condition may range from cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, mental retardation, speech and hearing impairment, autism, learning disabilities and polio. Provides therapies and has several provisions for physical activity Provides and facilitates special physiotherapy equipment, wheel chairs, hearing aids, calipers, crutches, artificial limbs etc as per the requirements of the children Other co-curricular activities like painting, dancing, flower and paper bag making etc. are also organized for the children. Job drives are conducted in several Army locations across India and they are placed in various facilities within the cantonment in CSD Canteens, ECHS, Beauty Parlour and waste paper management plant. The children are also encouraged and supported to join the organization/company of their choice. Vocational Training is also provided to the student that ranges from Computer Training, Paper Hand Bags Making, Candle Making, Cooking Pottery Making and forms of art & craft classes, Stitching, Embroidery etc. The ASHA schools across India are funded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MOSJE) and supported by Army Wives Welfare Association.
