DSC's PIM(Participatory Irrigation Management) programme works to improve the management of water resources in irrigation systems. Joint Forest Management (JFM) is a community-based forest management programme that involves local communities in the management of forest resources to improve the livelihoods of forest-dependent people and conserve forest ecosystems. It has been implemented in over 100,000 villages in India and has had a significant impact on the lives of forest-dependent people. It has helped to increase forest cover, improve soil and water conservation, and reduce the incidence of forest fires. JFM has also helped to improve the livelihoods of forest-dependent people by providing them with employment opportunities in the forest sector and by increasing the availability of forest products.
