Sri Keshava trust (SKT) is a Bangalore based, public charitable trust, started by Dr.K.Ramachandra Murthy in 1988. It works for providing eye health c Read moreare services to all those who need it the most. Dr. Murthy was a visionary who dedicated his life towards providing quality eye care, at a time when it was not freely available in Karnataka. Diagnostic and treatment services in 5 rural areas around Bangalore was started with the help of other NGOs and were run for over a decade providing quality and affordable eye care. In 1998, Karnataka Government granted land & supported by over 3500 donors, the trust built a state-of-the-art tertiary eye care ophthalmic hospital called Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology (VIIO). Today the Hospital is equipped with latest advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment and undertakes research, training in all areas of ophthalmology. Innovative and successful models like the Nayana, Retinopathy of Prematurity telescreening, Visual rehabilitation Projects developed in this institute, have been adopted by Government and International agencies. We at VIIO strive to achieve our motto “Shraddahi Paramagathihi" through our dedicated team, with a driving spirit to ensure that "No one shall go blind for want of money or lack of care".

  • Comprehensive Ophthalmology Fellowship Programme

    The Comprehensive Ophthalmology Fellowship Programme offered at Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology (VIIO) and Prabha Eye Clinic (PEC) spans 18 months and aims to provide thorough exposure to all subspecialties within the field. By the end of the fellowship, trainees are expected to possess the skills necessary to independently manage a basic ophthalmology unit. The final four months of training involve two months of additional rotation in a chosen subspecialty and two months of independent outpatient department (OPD) work at VIIO, supplemented by supervised surgical opportunities. Competencies gained include advanced techniques in refraction such as astigmatism correction, subjective and objective refraction for routine and complex cases, measurement of accommodative power and interpupillary distance, and prescribing multifocal lenses and lenses for children, as well as proficiency in intraocular lens (IOL) calculation algorithms.
