Anahad Foundation works to bring the art and talent of underprivileged folk musicians to the country. It takes the help of technology to empower the a Read morertists at their doorsteps with battery-powered arrangements. Websites are created on behalf of the artists to help them post their performances online and give them wide exposure. The Foundation has managed to support and bring more than a hundred folk music groups from across five states to the forefront, each group featuring its own webpage and documentation for the public to see and access. As the Foundation puts it, it creates identities through portable studios and by assisting with production, creation of a website, ensuring the protection of the artist's original work, promoting cultural research, guiding the artists to take up music which appeals to the contemporary audience and markets and distributes the artist's offerings to the public to popularize the artist.

Anahad Foundation brings together and promotes more than 100 folk music groups from the 5 states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal, Jharkhand and Karnataka and has created individual websites and profiles for each.

Programs

  • Fellowship Programme

    The Foundation aims to develop cultural appreciation and production skills. It runs a fellowship for interested and suitable candidates for a period of three months during which they are exposed to the cultural heritage of five states across India focusing on folk art forms. The participants are motivated to design cultural programmes and help underprivileged musicians through modern technological means. Education in the fields of production, research, journalism, business development and marketing are all part of the fellowship programme. The fellowship includes extensive travelling through the five states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal, Jharkhand or Karnataka and interacting with a minimum of fifteen ethnic folk groups. The participant is encouraged to have a research topic in mind and work towards submitting a report at the end of the programme. Travel and accommodation are covered by the programme and a stipend of ten thousand Rupees is paid to the participant during the programme.
