SHEOWS(Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphan Welfare Society) is working to provide homes to abandoned elderly people. It has set up two old age homes Read more“Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram” in Delhi and Garhmukteshwar respectively. It provides senior citizens with shelter, food, clothes, respect and love free of cost. The elders are picked up from the streets by the organisation or brought to the home by the police or hospitals. It reduces abuse of the elderly through this effort and also gives them a new lease of life. The organisation is equipped with special care units, physiotherapy labs, pathology labs, daily medicines, round-the-clock availability of medical staff, lifts, and x-ray machines. On the occasion of festivals, it arranges meetings of the elderly with school and college students who wish to spend time with them. It has also arranged televisions and music systems to keep them entertained. On the demise of any of the inmates, the organisation performs cremation according to rites and rituals. Its services to senior citizens have been awarded with: • Mahatma Gandhi Intergenerational empowerment award 2015 by the Union Home Ministry. • Prahlad Toda award. • Delhi NGO’s in healthcare leadership award by Zee Business National Healthcare Leadership Congress. • Shri Chuni Lal Jindal Memorial Trust Award 2012. • Shram Samman Award 2009. • Distinguished service award by Rotary Club Delhi 2013. • Purvanchali Pratibha Summan Award 2011. • World Geriatrics Care Award 2009.
