Issue

Oasis India addresses core issues and the root causes of modern-day slavery and human trafficking. Working directly in the community and through networks of grassroots both in most vulnerable source areas, transit and destination areas across Isome of the strategic and unserved states of India.


Action

Oasis India implements several community-oriented projects across 12 hubs in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam and Manipur with an overarching commitment to prevent human trafficking in India. Core concentration of actions is in - Skilling, Livelihood, Prevention, Education, Sports, Relief and Climate Change Actions.

Programs

  • Rehabilitation Programme

    Oasis India's focus extends to rehabilitation, particularly for individuals who have encountered traumatic experiences. The organisation provides essential support through counselling, mentorship, and personalized care, aiding them in processing their past and embracing a future filled with optimism and self-assurance. For certain cases, this rehabilitation occurs within residential settings, encompassing comprehensive assistance that covers all aspects of personal growth and development.

  • Skill Development Programme

    Oasis India undertakes skill development initiatives aimed at empowering women who have experienced trauma or are in vulnerable situations. By offering skill training and job readiness preparation, the organisation enables these women to attain self-sufficiency through income generation. Addressing a significant obstacle, the organization strives not just to bring about change, but to nurture individuals who initiate positive transformations within their communities. Among the individuals it assists, some have never received formal education; for them, Oasis India provides literacy support. Additionally, the organisation supports participants in its skill training programmes in securing employment opportunities.

  • Prevention Programme

    Oasis India focuses on preventing human trafficking, particularly among women and children, who often fall prey to exploitation due to their vulnerability. It achieves this by raising awareness about the risks associated with trafficking and empowering individuals with the knowledge to safeguard themselves. Additionally, the organisation engages in proactive efforts in Mumbai, intercepting vulnerable children who have arrived in the city, and ensuring they are not subjected to sexual exploitation or forced labour. Instead, it facilitates the reunification of these children with their families, mitigating the risk of them being trafficked and sold into slavery.

  • Education Programme

    Oasis India focuses on education as a means to reduce vulnerability among children. Recognizing that children within the educational system are inherently less susceptible, the organisation concentrates on reintegrating school dropouts and providing support to vulnerable children. Its efforts are aimed at ensuring these children not only attend school but also excel in their studies, thus enhancing their overall well-being and resilience.

  • Sports Programme

    Oasis India initiates a sports programme that provides children with chances to participate in sports, join teams, and explore various hobbies and cultural activities. Through these recreational pursuits, children's viewpoints broaden, aiding in the development of well-rounded individuals. This approach fosters a sense of purpose and vision among them, encouraging personal growth and instilling a deeper understanding of their potential contributions to their communities.

  • Humanitarian Relief

    Oasis India has regularly responded with life-saving relief work sicne Tsunami in South India and in floods, landslides, Covid19 and also for internally displaced families in recent ethnic conflicts in Manipur.
