Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Belgaum, situated in the historic residence where Swami Vivekananda briefly stayed in 1892, conducts various activities fo Read morer students. These include lectures, recitations, and annual essay competitions. It runs a Computer Training Centre and promotes moral and spiritual growth through Balak Sangha, Balika Sangha, and Yuvak Sangha. The Ashram focuses on community welfare, housing Sarada Netralaya, an eye clinic, and engaging in charitable efforts like distributing clothes and food to the needy. It also provides scholarships to economically disadvantaged students. Religious practices are central, with daily worship, retreats, bhajans, and meditation classes. Recently, it underwent extensive renovation, restoring the building to its 1892 state and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sri S.M. Krishna in May 2001.

    District

    Relief efforts coordinated between Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysore, and others provided aid to flood-affected regions in Bellary, Raichur, Bagalkot, Belgaum, and Koppal districts from October to December 2009. Over 3600 families received relief materials worth Rs.20 lakhs, including cooked food, clothing, blankets, and utensils. Sri Sharada Netralaya conducts monthly eye camps, focusing on cataract prevention and surgery. The integrated welfare project, Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa, aims to enhance the physical, mental, and intellectual development of children through various activities and support. Additional initiatives include the distribution of clothes, physical aids, daily feeding for school children, and health care camps in nearby villages.

  • Japa Yajna

    District

    Japa Yajna, a five-day spiritual retreat held in the tranquil setting of the Ashrama, is tailored for devotees initiated into Sri Ramakrishna's Mantra. Participants engage in spiritual practices amidst the sanctified atmosphere enriched by Swami Vivekananda's presence. The retreat emphasizes repetitive chanting (Japa) of the divine name, with a target of one hundred thousand repetitions. Activities include bhajans, readings from 'the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna,' and spiritual discourses. The program, offering free food and lodging, aims to support devotees in nurturing their spiritual discipline amid worldly obligations.
