The Indira Gandhi Integral Education Centre was established in 1988 and officially registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on June Read more 16, 1989. Operating from Odisha, the organization is actively involved in conducting social research programs, developmental activities, and regular training programs. As a prominent organization in Western Odisha led by dedicated social activists, it operates at grassroots, national, regional, and international levels. Collaborating with various international universities, NGOs, human rights movements, and networks, the organization works tirelessly to advance the rights of men, women, adolescent girls, and promote the sexual and reproductive freedoms of all individuals. Its advocacy extends to national and international platforms, promoting positive social change, while offering training and learning opportunities to global activists and leaders. Engaged in multifaceted initiatives, the organization conducts research, development, training, and innovation programs spanning various domains such as Education, Agriculture, Health, Environment, Water, Energy, Women and Children's welfare, Minority rights, Traditional medicine, Extractive industries, Social science, Human rights, Advocacy, and other diverse fields. The organisation works for the following causes: • Combatting poverty • Addressing inequality • Providing nutrition for children • Promoting child education • Sheltering the homeless • Assisting others in need The Indira Gandhi Integral Education Centre is overseen by a Board of Advisors comprising individuals from diverse backgrounds and expertise. This board operates for a one-year term and incorporates a selection of esteemed independent members annually. The board convenes once every quarter to deliberate on organizational matters. Comprising individuals from various walks of life, the team unites diverse experiences toward a singular mission. Its members encompass a wide spectrum, including social workers, MBAs, chartered accountants, corporate professionals, consultants, and PR experts. The Indira Gandhi Integral Education Centre holds a firm belief that sustainable change cannot occur without the proactive involvement of civil society members in the developmental process. Embracing the principle of 'Civic Driven Change,' the centre endeavours to sensitize and engage civil society, aiming to foster active partnerships in fulfilling its mission. Mission: • Empowers underprivileged children, youth, and women across India through relevant education, innovative healthcare, and market-focused livelihood programs. • Employs optimal methodologies and technology to achieve ideal SROI (social return on investment), promoting and practicing good governance. • Forges connections between corporate business competitiveness and social development initiatives. Additionally, sensitizes privileged individuals to promote Civic Driven Change. • Aids India in embracing innovation and creativity while emerging as a global leader in sustainable technologies, overcoming social and economic barriers that hinder the growth and dissemination of eco-friendly grassroots innovations. Vision: • Catalyzes sustainable change in the lives of underprivileged children, youth, and women across India, employing a life-cycle approach to development. • Enables global civil societies to actively engage in the change process through the philosophy of civic-driven change.

  • IGIEC Outreach

    State

    Through its Outreach initiatives, the Indira Gandhi Integral Education Centre implements a diverse array of intervention projects. Under the Mission Education endeavour, education is extended to underprivileged children residing in remote areas. The Smile on Wheels program operates well-equipped mobile hospital units, providing medical expertise, services, and medicines across deserts, forested regions, hilly terrains, and urban areas, ensuring affordable, accessible, and accountable healthcare.
    In addition to Smile on Wheels, the organization conducts Smile Health Camps, Integrated Community Development, and Infrastructure Development projects, contributing to the overall welfare of communities. The Outreach program directly engages in 10 backward districts, 155 villages, and 10 urban slums, catering to a population exceeding 400,000 individuals. Currently, this program has positively impacted around 200,000 beneficiaries.

  • Anti-Human Trafficking

    State

    Educating both children and families about their rights and the perils of human trafficking significantly reduces the likelihood of children being coerced or exploited in this industry. It also encourages children to remain in school, paving the way for future employment opportunities that offer fair wages.
    The efforts against human trafficking focus on prevention education, diverse engagement initiatives, and fostering job prospects for survivors and individuals vulnerable to exploitation.

  • Rural Healthcare

    Every individual has the fundamental right to healthcare. The Indira Gandhi Integral Education Centre operates well-equipped mobile hospital units, staffed with medical experts and stocked with essential services and medicines. These units traverse deserts, forested areas, hilly terrains, and urban lanes under the Smile on Wheels program, providing affordable, accessible, and responsible healthcare.
    In addition to Smile on Wheels, the organization conducts Smile Health Camps, Integrated Community Development, and Infrastructure Development projects, contributing to the holistic welfare of communities.
