The Aseema Charitable Trust started as an education centre with 18 children aged between 3 and 11 years. The centre initially provided non-formal educ Read moreation to these children but has since extended its services to include formal education, vocational training and life skills education. The organisation is based in Mumbai and focuses on providing education and support to children from needy communities who are at risk of dropping out of school or who have never been to school. The Trust's programmes are designed to empower these children with the knowledge and skills they need to break out of the cycle of poverty and create a better future for themselves. The Aseema Charitable Trust has won several awards, the latest being the Certificate of Merit for Operational Excellence awarded by Social Academy of Learning by Toyota in 2020, the Vocational Excellence Award by Rotary International in 2018, and the Green Crusader Award by Maharashtra Pollution Control Board – Bhamla Foundation in 2017.

  • Community Work Centre

    The Trust's Community Work Centre (CWC) operates to create an atmosphere that enables education by encouraging children to enrol in school, supervising attendance and visiting homes, managing the school management committees, holding regular meetings with parents and keeping an eye on the meal programme.

  • Education Programme

    District

    The organisation has adopted several municipal schools in Mumbai such as Pali Chimbai Municipal School, Santacruz (W) Municipal School, and Kherwadi Municipal School to support and conduct classes. It also has a dedicated Education Centre called Aseema’s Bal Shaikshanik Kendra (ABSK) that primarily serves children of farmers in tribal areas. It provides education to over 3000 children from Pre-Primary to Standard 10.

  • Co-Curricular Activities

    The trust offers co-curricular activities such as art, sports, music, and vocational subjects like agriculture and tailoring. It organises field trips and cultural events, promotes values through the "How to Live" program, and provides sports training for competitions. Soft music is played between classes and weekly music classes are conducted to improve talent.

  • Health & Nutrition Programme

    The trust provides mid-day meals for children, which forms an important source of nourishment for children coming from needy families. An internal nutritionist prepares a balanced menu including vital nutrients, The height and weight of children are checked twice a year to track their physical development. Additionally, medical check-ups and health camps are conducted for all children in Mumbai and Igatpuri.

  • Counselling Programme

    District

    The trust has a team of clinical and counselling psychologists who offer group and individual counselling to children, using various therapy methods to address their requirements. Workshops and awareness sessions on topics such as child sexual abuse and bullying are also conducted. Additionally, the trust provides a 'Children's Box' at every school to serve as a mode of safe communication.
