Programs

  • Nambikkai Centre (Shelter care for girls in need)

The following three goals guide the center's operations:
    1. Preserving and enhancing the childhood of young girls who are at risk.
    2. Supporting their development as creatives.
    3. Performing the advocacy and networking tasks.
In addition to housing thirty to thirty-five children between the ages of six and fifteen, this center also acts as a drop-in location for underprivileged women and children. It offers wholesome meals, medical attention, and more education.

It runs several initiatives with the goal of rehabilitating them. The Center's primary programs and activities include organizing health awareness campaigns, regular health checkups, counseling, summer creative camps, and study assistance. The Center has been involved in computer skill training initiatives.

  • Life Skill Programme

    District

Adolescents receive life skills education in specific schools and communities with the goal of boosting their self-esteem and educating them about their rights and entitlements. In the year 2000, this program was first introduced for the teenage ladies enrolled in the Madurai Corporation schools. Since then, a number of changes have been made in response to recommendations made by the teenagers who participated in the program. In 2016, the programβ€”which is being implemented as a life skill through sportsβ€”was launched in collaboration with the NAZ India Foundation. Through this initiative, almost 1500 teenage girls are currently reached.

  • Capacity Building

More than just training, capacity building is seen as a continuous process that helps people, groups, organizations, and communities become better at recognizing and addressing development obstacles so they may advance toward realizing their rights. Exposure visits and scheduled training are used to further this process. Gender is the overarching problem across all three of the bigger headings under which the theme areas are categorized.

Gender and Governance: Encouraging women to assume leadership and participate
Human rights and gender: knowledge of women's rights and legal literacy.
Gender and Masculinities: Understanding the importance of achieving gender parity and the positive contribution that men may make to this endeavour.
